2017 Mitsubishi Outlander
Mitsubishi’s best selling Outlander is back for 2017 with some new standard and optional features. You’ll find upgrades in the cabin, now with a glossy black center console, a clever 12-volt cargo-bay outlet, a shark-fin antenna, and courtesy floor lights upfront. On that spectacular new dash, you’ll find a new Smartphone Link Display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the 6.1-inch touch screen, rear camera and navigation that are all now standard.
The entry level ES trim is also now available with the All-Wheel-Control (AWC) full-time all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. And the steering wheel now heats up – so nice in winter!
Mitsubishi has added many enhancements to Noise, Vibration and Harshness reductions through some ingenious engineering; you’ll find the cabin even more hushed than before with only minimum sounds from the engine, wind and other outside noise.
The three-row, 7-passenger, Mitsubishi Outlander is definitely a fantastic choice for a family on a budget as it has so many features in a sophisticated vehicle setting that never makes you feel you made a compromise based on cost. When you sit in the well-appointed, well-designed cabin, you will be amazed at the features and material touches that are rarely found in this price range.
You’ll find a roomy interior where the second row slides and reclines for added comfort and easier access to the third-row seats. Total cargo capacity is 63.3 cubic feet, 34.2 of that is behind the second row so you can put quite a bit of stuff right in the cabin.
Mitsubishi Outlander comes with a full palette of option packages, there are four trims: the ES, SE, SEL, and GT.
The Outlander ES, SE, and SEL all come with a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that combines with a continuously variable transmission to produce 166 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. Maximum towing weight with this engine is 1,500 pounds, and fuel-economy ratings are great when combined with front-wheel drive (FWD). The SE and SEL trims have an AWD boosted by Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) with enhanced torque and brake vectoring; this feature uses an electronically locking center differential that automatically vectors torque and braking among all 4 wheels for best traction.
The SEL also adds: roof rails, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, glossy black interior trim, leather upholstery and a power driver seat. It comes with an available Premium package that adds a sunroof, a power liftgate, power folding mirrors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a nine-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system.
Next up is the SEL Touring package which includes the Premium package items plus LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree parking camera system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, lane departure warning, and a forward collision mitigation system with automatic braking.
The top of the line GT trims come standard with all of the previous options, the larger 3.0-liter V6 engine and available advanced safety technologies including adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning. Exclusive standard features on the GT trims include chrome exterior beltline accents and steering-wheel shift paddles.
